Yarrawonga residents will benefit from a boost in funding to Learn Local organisations, Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, said today.

The grants, announced by Minister for Training and Skills, Steve Herbert, is from the Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board’s $2.3 million Partnership for Access program, which supports Learn Locals across Victoria to implement 57 projects that better meet the needs of learners.

A total of 217 organisations are participating in the program, including 151 Learn Locals and 66-non Learn Local providers, including community organisations, local government, LLENs, TAFEs and schools.

The funding will bring together Learn Locals to share expertise and resources, improving opportunities for residents who have previously experienced barriers to education to develop the skills they need to find work or further their education.

“This is fantastic news for the Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House and Cobram Community House, strengthening our Learn Locals will make training more accessible to adult learners and help skill our workforce for jobs now and in the future,” Ms Symes said.

“This funding of $10,000 will give learning opportunities to people who have faced barriers to education, helping them to reskill, find work or engage in further education.

“This funding is a lifeline for many disadvantaged learners in the local community and I am pleased to see a number of local organisations partnering together to provide better opportunities for learners.”
