Murrindindi Shire roads are set for upgrades thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, today joined Labor candidate for Eildon, Sally Brennan, and Murrindindi Shire in yea to announce more than $600,000 in works could get under way.

The projects announced today include:

  • Ghin Ghin Road Safety Improvement which will include installing safety barriers on the existing bridges/major culverts, sealing one road entry and reconstruction of a 700m section of failed road pavement.
  • Jogensen Parade – Heavy Vehicle Access Improvement which will see an extension of the Sealed section and upgrading the existing pavement to allow for higher use and regular steel delivery to a modular manufacturing firm.
  • High Street Yea Traffic Management Review to address parking impacts and traffic circulation on High Street Yea. It is a busy strip shopping commercial district that caters for high volume tourist traffic both winter and summers seasons.

“These are great projects identified by Murrindindi Shire that will not only improve safety on local roads but will also examine how to make High St safer for locals and tourists,” Ms Symes said.

“We know how important road safety is to country Victorians and that is why Labor is investing in local projects identified by the Shire to make our roads safer.

These initiatives follow the biggest road maintenance blitz regional Victoria has ever seen, with $333 million invested this year to repair, rebuild and resurface 1,500 kilometres of country roads – creating more than 650 construction jobs in country Victoria.

The Labor Government has more than doubled road maintenance spending since coming to office.
