Delivering Jobs For The Latrobe Valley

The Latrobe Valley GovHub is a step closer with planning approvals now in place and local businesses being encouraged to register their interest in working on the landmark project.

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes and Minister for Planning Richard Wynne today announced new planning controls have been approved for the site in Church Street, Morwell, which will house 300 workers once built.

The GovHub will accommodate 200 staff from Victorian Government agencies, including personnel from Earth Resources Regulation, Parks Victoria, EPA and Solar Victoria.

The Andrews Labor Government is calling on the Commonwealth to match Victoria’s commitment by locating more Australian public service jobs to the region.

Castlerock Property has committed to using 75 per cent local content during construction, delivering significant opportunities for local businesses and workers.

The project will create up to 100 jobs during construction.

Local businesses interested in being part of the Latrobe Valley GovHub project are invited to register with the Industry Capability Network, which will be holding an information session on Tuesday, 30 July. The session will give businesses the opportunity to understand more about the project and to meet with the developer.

Early demolition and site clearing work is under way and construction will begin in August.

The new GovHub is part of the Labor Government’s $266 million package to support economic growth in the Latrobe Valley, create jobs and drive the businesses and industries of the future.

According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics Labour Force data, the Latrobe-Gippsland region’s unemployment rate is at an all-time low of 3.2 per cent.
