FLYAWAY GYMNASTICS CLUB SHINES AT THE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT COMMUNITY SPORT AND RECREATION AWARDS

Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes has praised Wodonga’s Flyaway Gymnastics Club for taking out the Community Sport Club of the Year Award at the Victorian Government Community Sport and Recreation Awards.

Ms Symes said Flyaway Gymnastics Club took out the Community Sporting Club of the Year Award, beating a field of thousands of applicants to take out the coveted award for outstanding contribution to Victorian sport and recreation.

Ms Symes said Flyaway Gymnastics Club embodies country Victoria’s proud commitment to grassroots sport and recreation – and making sure everyone has a go, and enjoys the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Ms Symes said Victoria isn’t the sporting capital of the world by chance, it’s the commitment and determination of clubs like Flyaway Gymnastics Club that ensure our country areas and towns enjoy safe, welcoming environments to get fit, have fun and make friends.

Flyaway Gymnastics Club collects a $3000 prize, while the runners up in each field were awarded $1000. The Minister’s Award went to Doxa Youth Foundation, which ensures disadvantaged Victorian kids get to enjoy the benefits of a school camp.

“Our reputation as a proud sporting community is no coincidence, it’s thanks to people and organisations like Flyaway Gymnastics Club that we lead the way for community sport and recreation,” Ms Symes said.

“Sport and recreation is so valuable to our community, it keeps us happy, healthy and connected.

“Congratulations to Flyaway Gymnastics Club for your contribution to Wodonga, Albury and Northern Victoria.”
