Future Is Bright: Katy Perry Backs Fire Recovery With Show
Thousands of Victorians from bushfire-affected parts of the state and emergency service workers will get the chance to hear international superstar Katy Perry roar as part of a free concert to be held in Bright next week.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today confirmed that the Andrews Labor Government had worked with the US performer to organise the one-off Alpine event after Perry had made her wishes known that she wanted to reach out to people affected by the summer’s bushfires.
Locals from the bushfire-affected town of Corryong will be bussed to and from the FIGHT ON performance at Pioneer Park on Wednesday, 11 March, which will follow the Brighter Days Festival from 6-8 March.
Tickets to the performance will be allocated to bushfire-affected communities through local shires in the north east, and emergency services agencies.
People can also register their interest to attend and obtain more details at ticketek.com.au/katyperryfighton.
The bushfire concert is being supported by Visit Victoria, the ICC T20 World Cup, TEGDainty, 160over90 and the Brighter Days Festival.
It will follow Perry’s performance at the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup final at the MCG on Sunday, 8 March – International Women’s Day.
The Labor Government is backing the regional tourism industry with initiatives including increased marketing activities from Visit Victoria to entice intrastate, interstate and international visitors, a Bushfire Recovery round of the Regional Events Fund, and the Business & Sport for Bushfire Recovery program.
The Government has allocated more than $270 million to help Victorian communities recover and rebuild in the wake of the summer’s bushfires.
