GOFISH NAGAMBIE 2020 READY TO LURE IN THE CROWDS

Australia’s biggest freshwater fishing festival is set to reel in a new catch of visitors and boost businesses in the Goulburn Valley once again when GoFish Nagambie returns from 2 – 5 April 2020.

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes today launched the 2020 GoFish event in Nagambie, which is expected to draw thousands of anglers, fishing enthusiasts and visitors to the surrounding region.

Last year’s inaugural event saw more than 7,000 visitors converge on Nagambie to enjoy four days of fishing, entertainment and community events injecting $5.6 million into the Goulburn Valley economy.

The festival also attracted more than 2,000 freshwater anglers to the Goulburn River from across the country to complete for $500,000 in prizes.

Throughout the four-day event, the Festival Hub will host an outdoor lifestyle expo featuring a regional boat show, camping, caravan, fishing and 4×4 displays as well as showcase the best of local food and wine producers.

The Lure Village will also showcase the intricate work and designs of Australian lure makers who will be selling and presenting their collections direct to the public.

The Festival adds to Victoria’s year-round calendar of popular fishing events including Hooked on Lakes Entrance and Hooked on Portland.

These events are supported through the Andrews Labor Government’s $80 million Target One Million plan for recreational fishing which aims to get one million anglers fishing across Victoria by 2020.

GoFish Nagambie was secured for the region through the Labor Government’s $20 million Regional Events Fund which already supported over 200 events, creating jobs and boosting local economies.

The Government is supporting local communities and regional tourism operators through initiatives that are driving visitation to regional centres including Visit Victoria’s new campaign – “a short stay goes a long way” which is encouraging locals to travel to regional Victoria.

GoFish runs from Thursday 2 April – Sunday 5 April 2020, For more information visit gofishnagambie.com.au
