The Wangaratta Cup is set to be a great day of country racing with something for the whole family and it will deliver a boost to the region’s economy, backed by a funding package from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the Government is allocating more than $19,000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program to support the meeting, with the Wangaratta Turf Club investing more than $22,000 for the event on Saturday 5 March.

There will be a great day of racing headlined by the $100,000 Wangaratta Cup plus live music by Glen Starr and Dylan Raath, along with local food trucks and fashions on the field.

There’s also plenty of entertainment for the kids with a designated Kids Zone and entertainers.

Since December 2014 the Government has approved more than $3.1 million to support race meetings and racing infrastructure projects at Wangaratta Turf Club.

The thoroughbred racing industry in regional Victoria generates more than $715 million for the economy and helps sustain more than 6,100 full-time-equivalent jobs.
