WORLD-CLASS HEALTHCARE TRAINING CENTRE OPENS IN SEYMOUR
The Andrews Labor Government’s multimillion dollar health and community services training centre has officially opened at GOTAFE in Seymour, fostering a local pipeline of skilled workers for the industry locally and right across Victoria.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today officially opened the $6 million GOTAFE Seymour Campus Revitalisation that includes the upgraded Health and Community Services Training Facility, a new entry and reception, administration and community areas.
The new centre features integrated teaching facilities, flexible learning spaces, tutorial rooms, lecture theatres, computer labs, a clinical simulation centre to give students realistic training through interactive technology, student amenities and upgraded staff offices.
Among the new industry-standard equipment housed at the centre is a Synthetic Cadaver (Syndaver) that will allow students to learn on a realistic synthetic simulated human body.
The facility will accommodate students in Individual Support, Disability, Nursing and Early Childhood Education and Care – providing pathways to meaningful work and addressing skill shortages in the region. Importantly, it will allow GOTAFE to better collaborate with industry and universities to strengthen training pathways for local students.
The project was designed by Vincent Chrisp Architects through a collaborative process with locals from the region.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has made a record $3.2 billion investment to rebuild TAFE and support universities and higher education to ensure Victorians have access to high quality education and rewarding career pathways.
