A SLAM DUNK FOR MYRTLEFORD
Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes today announced $1.3million for a major upgrade to the Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium.
Ms Symes said the Andrews Labor Government investment will see a new multi-purpose court built at the stadium, where the Myrtleford and District Basketball Association runs junior and senior competitions for nearly 500 players during the summer months.
Ms Symes said sports like basketball and netball are as popular as ever, but in many locations players have to wait until late at night just so they can play the games they love, Labor is fixing that.
“We’ve listened to Myrtleford sports clubs, who say they need more space to welcome more members than ever before, and Labor is delivering” Ms Symes said.
“A second court at the Myrtleford Indoor Sports Stadium will mean players have more opportunities to get out and play or work on their game at training sessions.”
Ms Symes said the new court will provide the Association with new opportunities to attract even more players.
“We are partnering with the Alpine Shire Council who will deliver this vital community project,” Ms Symes said.
Our $22 million Better Indoor Stadiums Fund is addressing a chronic short supply of indoor stadiums. The Labor Government’s $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping clubs all over Victoria update tired facilities and build the first-class venues they deserve.
