One of regional Victoria’s most popular race meets, the Seymour Cup is back bigger and better than ever on Sunday thanks to a funding package of more than $46,000 thanks to the Andrews Labor Government, the Seymour Racing Club and Country Racing Victoria.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the Labor Government is tipping in $25,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund to support the much-loved event.

This year, race goers can look forward to cheering on a quality Cup field, whilst enjoying family entertainment for kids big and small in between races.

The funding will go towards children’s activities including pony rides and face painting, live music from Cam Tapp and free shuttle buses, fashions on the field and online discounted entry tickets.

The Seymour Racing Club is contributing more than $16,000 to the event, and Country Racing Victoria is providing $5,000.

Since December 2014, the Labor Government has provided more than $4.13 million to support three race day events and eight infrastructure projects at the Seymour Racecourse.

The thoroughbred racing industry in the Hume region generates $167.8 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 1,400 full time equivalent jobs in the region.
