Courting Seymour netballers

18 Apr 2017 North Central Review (Kilmore), Melbourne (General News) SEYMOUR netball teams have secured funding for a new second netball court. Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, joined Mayor for Mitchell Shire Rhonda Sanderson and Seymour Football Netball Club representatives to make the announcement about the $128,328 project. The announcement is the second major funding commitment for netball teams who call Kings Park home, in the last five months. Ms Symes has worked closely with Seymour Football Netball Club President, Craig Velt, to deliver the funding. In December funding was announced for new change rooms and amenities at the reserve and those works are underway. It has been a challenge for the Seymour Football Netball Club, St Marys Junior Football and Netball Club, Seymour Junior Football and Netball Club, Seymour Junior Netball Club and NetSetGo to juggle their playing and training needs sharing the one court. The funding of $85,552 from the Country Football and Netball Program will see the project delivered by the Mitchell Shire Council. Late last year the netballers were rapt with the announcement of new female change rooms and I promised to work hard to get them their much needed second court, Ms Symes said A new floodlit second court will allow the clubs to grow and increase training and competition opportunities for both current and future senior and junior players. Ms Symes said grassroots netball competitions are booming and projects like this one will give more locals the opportunity to play the sport they love. The program has an additional $1 million from partners the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria. Licensed by Copyright Agency. You may only copy or communicate this work with a licence.
