Corryong Courier, Corryong VIC (General News) Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes. has announced increased funding for libraries to buy books, update computers and deliver programs for school kids. Libraries in Towong Alpine, Benalla, Indigo. Mansfield, Mildura, Mitchell. Murrindindi. Swan Hill, Wangaratta and Wodonga municipalities received a total of more than $2 million. Towongs share of the allocation is $106,429. The government is giving our councils and public libraries the resources they need to continue delivering these important services for country communities, Ms Symes said. Victoria is home to 275 permanent library branches and 30 mobile library services, with more than 2.1 million library members registered in the state. On average, just under one in five Victorians visit their local library in Victoria.
