Attorney General

The Attorney-General is responsible for advising the government on improving the legal system. This includes providing advice on general government policy relating to the law and the courts, as well as recommendations for law reform.

Minister for Emergency Services

The Minister for Emergency Services has a range of responsibilities relating to the planning, management and delivery of Victoria's emergency services. The department's statutory authorities and emergency services agencies provide on-the-ground emergency response services to the Victorian community.

These include:

  • Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV)
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA)
  • Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES)
  • Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA)
  • Bushfire Recovery Victoria (BRV).

These statutory authorities often work with and rely on a significant volunteer workforce. Funding and support are also provided to organisations such as Life Saving Victoria and the Volunteer Coast Guard.

Leader of the Government in the Upper House

The Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council organises government tactics in that chamber, including the sitting day schedule.
