Extra funds for development

01 Aug 2018 Seymour Telegraph, Seymour VIC (General News) by Gus McCubbing Seymour and District Community House will increase its funded hours from 20 to 25 after it was announced the organisation will receive an extra $14 000 per annum from the Victorian Government. The increase in funded hours, along with an additional facility next door at 47 Anglesey St, will allow the community house to expand its programming and services and develop new activities to meet the growing demands of the local community. Seymour and District Community House president Diane George said she was rapt with the announcement, made by Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes on Monday. Weve waited so long for this its just fantastic, Mrs George said. The kids who are coming to the other house will be really grateful theyve got more room and we can do so much more now, like getting some new courses up and running, and engaging with the other centres around town. Were also looking to do more for the little kids who come in for art, as well as getting a book club going. So this is just the cream on top. Ms Symes said she was happy Seymour and District Community House got the opportunity to expand into a neighbouring facility. I know it is active in the community with an arts and craft program, low-cost childcare, pre-employment programs and support in accessing Centrelink, Ms Symes said. More hours, more staff and more volunteers this investment is a win for the local community. Seymour and District Community House is located at 47/47A Anglesey St.
