Grants provide a sporting chance for more girls, women to get act

06 Dec 2017 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) LOCAL sporting clubs will share in more than $30,000 in funding to secure new equipment provide instructor training and for uniforms announced by Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) this week. Milawa Football Netball Club received $2500 to support another junior female netball team specifically targeting girls aged 10-15, increasing the number of junior teams to four. Wangaratta Magpies Cricket Club received $2500 to increase the number of girls playing cricket at the club and encourage girls to learn the sport. Whorouly Football and Netball Club received $1940.82 to form a junior girls football team, supporting girls to focus on skill development and enjoyment. We are supporting locals to get active and embrace a healthy lifestyle, no matter what age, gender or ability, Ms Symes said.
