01 Aug 2018 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) LOCAL manufacturers will now have access to programs that boost productivity and competitiveness, and help them embrace innovation, adopt new skills and develop trade and supply chain opportunities. Jaclyn Symes (MLC, Northern Victoria) yesterday announced the creation of the Wangaratta Manufacturing Cluster part of a $5 million statewide scheme to boost the capability of country manufacturers. There are more than 130 manufacturing businesses in the Wangaratta region, employing almost 1200 people; the cluster will harness the strengths of local businesses and connect them with other manufacturing organisations. It will be delivered by the Labor Government in partnership with the Australian Industry Group, and overseen by a committee comprising representatives from Regional Development Victoria, Wodonga and Wangaratta councils, and Ai Group. These manufacturing clusters will play a big part in bringing businesses together so we can create jobs and boost the economy in North East Victoria, Ms Symes said.
