Wangaratta City chasing facility funding

29 Mar 2018 Wangaratta Chronicle, Wangaratta VIC (General News) by Jeremy Wilson THE Wangaratta City Football Club has welcomed news of the Labor Governments decision to create a $2.5 Million World Game Facilities Fund to help clubs upgrade or build new facilities across Victoria. Labor member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced up to $250,000 funding for projects would be made available to upgrade facilities. Wangaratta City FC president Dean Campagna welcomed news of the new fund, saying his club would work with council on an application. Campagna said lighting was the clubs number one priority with the new light towers and lighting upgrades needed on the two existing pitches while lighting was also needed on the main pitch. Campagna said it was important that Wangaratta City tried its best to get funding support as the club struggles for funding support from the games state governing body. As a club we find funding hard to come by at the best of times, he said. Its because we are a Football Federation Victoria club that competes in a league run by Football Federation NSW. Funding is tough for us to get. Ms Symes said Labor is making sure local soccer clubs in Northern Victoria have the support and facilities they need to grow and welcome more members than ever before. This funding will inspire even more of our kids to sign up to their local soccer club, get active and play the game they love. Applications for the Labor Governments World Game Facilities Fund are now open.
