The Carroll Labor Government is delivering a new, modern aged-care home in Numurkah so more older Victorians can remain close to family, friends and community.
The new 36-bed facility is taking shape at the NCN Health Numurkah campus and will replace the ageing Pioneers Memorial Lodge.
Labor is investing almost $55 million in the project to make sure every resident has a private bedroom and ensuite – supporting greater dignity, privacy and independence.
Construction of the new facility is underway with earthworks completed and concrete slabs being poured.
The facility will use a household model of care, with shared kitchens, dining rooms and lounges where residents can spend time together, alongside quiet spaces of their own.
It has been carefully designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for residents with more complex needs, including people living with dementia.
The project is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with NCN Health and Nicholson Construction.
It’s part of Labor’s Better Aged Care for Regional Victorians program.
Only Labor delivers facilities like this – giving older Victorians the dignity, respect and access to high-quality care close to home.
Regional Victoria cannot risk a Liberal-One Nation Coalition, whose $40 billion in cuts will devastate the frontline services working people rely on.
The last time they were in power the Liberals sold off or closed 835 public aged care beds. A Liberal One-Nation Coalition would do it again given the chance.
Quotes attributable to Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes
“This new facility will give older Victorians in Numurkah a modern, comfortable place to call home, while keeping them connected to the people and community they know.”
“We’re investing in high-quality public aged care across regional Victoria because people should not have to leave their community to get the care they deserve.”
