BROADFORD SECONDARY COLLEGE BENEFITS FROM NEW LEARNING SPACES

30 April 2026

Students at Broadford Secondary College will soon have additional classroom capacity with the school set to receive 2 new modular buildings that will be ready for the 2027 school year.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the new facilities at Broadford Secondary College are in addition to the significant upgrades to the school over the last few years and will help manage its strong enrolment growth.

The Labor Government has also confirmed school zoning changes for the township of Kilmore. From next year Kilmore families benefit from a shared school zone and can elect to enrol in either Wallan Secondary College or Broadford Secondary College.

The additional buildings at Broadford Secondary College, as well as an extra bus for Kilmore based students, will ensure the success of the shared zone arrangements, whilst the work to plan and design further upgrades are completed.

In last year’s budget, Broadford Secondary College received $500,000 to commence planning for a new state-of-the-art double-storey shared learning facility with a dedicated STEM centre, repurposing and updating existing spaces and addressing outdated facilities.

Broadford and Wallan Secondary Colleges have gone from strength to strength, with dedicated and talented staff committed to continuous improvement in learning and wellbeing.

Since 2014, Labor has invested in the infrastructure needs of the schools, including new and upgraded buildings, sporting facilities and modern learning spaces to accommodate a range of educational offerings and broad curriculum choices including VCE, VET and VM.

We all want the best possible public education options and opportunities for local students, across Broadford, Kilmore, Wallan and surrounding areas, now and into the future.

At this time, investing in Broadford Secondary College and Wallan Secondary College is the best way to deliver this. Current and projected enrolment numbers are not sufficient to support three thriving public high schools in the catchment.

A future secondary school located in Kilmore is important to many in the community. The advocacy is recognised and appreciated. This will be respected with the commitment to ongoing reviews of population and community needs a we will work with the council to identify suitable locations, when the time is right.
