GAME CHANGING SPORTS FACILITIES ON THE WAY IN NORTHERN VICTORIA

The Allan Labor Government is delivering more modern, accessible community sport facilities across Victoria.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced 16 projects across northern Victoria that will share in more than $18.3 million for 78 new projects across the state through the latest round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

  • Indigo Shire Council will receive $393,610 towards Tangambalanga Tennis Court Upgrade.
  • Indigo Shire Council will receive $245,531 towards Chiltern Recreation Reserve Oval Lighting Upgrade.
  • Indigo Shire Council will receive $14,912 towards planning for Kiewa Memorial Park oval irrigation and cricket net upgrade.
  • Wodonga City Council will receive $37,500 towards planning for Baranduda Fields Synthetic pitch.
  • Moira Shire Council will receive $235,000 towards Cobram Apex Reserve lighting upgrades
  • Wangaratta Rural City Council will receive $34,977 towards planning for 2 new netball courts at WJ Findlay oval
  • Moira Shire Council will receive $38,428 towards the development of the Moira Shire Aquatic Sport and Recreation Strategy 2026-2036.
  • Murrindindi Shire Council will receive $250,000 for the Alexandra District Speedway lighting upgrade project
  • The Council will also receive $40,000 towards the implementation of the Murrindindi Sport and Recreation Strategy 2027-2037.
  • Mitchell Shire Council will receive $500,000 towards the Harley Hammond Reserve Tennis Court reconstruction project.
  • Strathbogie Shire Council will receive $130,340 towards the Euroa Lawn Tennis Club lighting project.
  • Mitchell Shire Council will receive $37,500 to plan for upgrades at the Pyalong Recreation Reserve Hall.
  • Campaspe Shire Council will receive $40,000 towards their Active Recreation Strategy
  • Greater Shepparton City Council will receive $40,000 towards planning a detailed design for the Central Park changeroom upgrades.
  • Loddon Shire Council will receive $495,000 towards the Little Lake Boort Foreshore activity space
  • Loddon Shire Council will receive $161,065 towards the Boort Lawn Tennis Club lighting project     

This round of the Fund will support projects worth more than $64.8 million across Victoria, adding to the more than $2.4 billion dollars invested in sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

The 2025/26 Victorian Budget is investing $20 million to continue delivering high-quality, accessible community sport infrastructure through programs like the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

These investments are helping more Victorians get active while supporting local jobs, economies and healthier communities.

New data from Sport and Recreation Victoria shows more than 330 funded projects over two years have increased participation by almost 43 per cent – bringing more than 70,200 new participants into sport, including a 19 per cent increase in girls.

The projects have also supported more than 1,170 direct full-time jobs, delivering over $538 million worth of community sport and active recreation infrastructure.
