The Carroll Labor Government is giving more children the best start in life, with a brand-new kindergarten open in Red Cliffs and an Early Learning Victoria Centre on the way, providing more local families access to a high-quality education program close to home.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes officially opened Red Cliffs Kindergarten with the help of some of Victoria’s youngest learners – where 132 kindergarten places are now available.
In Round 1 of the 2023 Building Blocks Capacity Building Grants, $6 million was allocated to this project. The old kindergarten was demolished to build a new early childhood centre. It includes 4 kindergarten rooms. It also has spaces for maternal and child health services, community programs and a toy library. This allows the centre to offer 132 kinder places to local 3 and 4-year-olds.
Member Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes also visited to mark the start of construction for the Early Learning Victoria Red Cliffs (interim name). Located on the same street as the Red Cliffs Kindergarten, the centre will offer long day care and integrated kinder for up to 57 children each day. With 3 rooms built for different ages. The centre also has a consulting room for child and family services, such as maternal and child health and allied health.
This Centre is expected to open mid-2027.
The Labor Government is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kinder each week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of Four-Year-Old Kinder each week by 2036.
