Regional communities across Northern Victoria will soon benefit from improved walking, cycling and other important transport links thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes has announced that Mildura Rural City Council and Swan Hill Rural City Council will share in funding for small-scale transport projects delivered by local councils and community organisations.

The Labor Government’s Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program provides funding to help seed small-scale initiatives across Victoria that meet local transport needs, integrate with other local transport options, and improve transport access.

The successful projects entail:

  • Mildura Rural City Council – installation of a series of footpaths in the township of Merbein.
  • Swan Hill Rural City Council – construction of a missing link foot path and pedestrian crossing on Latje Road, Robinvale, to deliver a safer network that will enable residents to better connect to nearby services and facilities.

The Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program has supported more than 200 projects across Victoria that will better connect communities.
