Goulburn Valley residents will have their say on the future of their local buses with Shepparton and Mooroopna the latest regional locations earmarked for a bus network review.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today announced the Shepparton and Mooroopna consultation will take place in early 2027 and will capture input from the local community and stakeholders.
The comprehensive review will examine how people currently use their local bus services and how future services might need to change to reflect changing travel patterns.
Improving local bus networks is part of Victoria’s Bus Plan. Since its release in 2021, Victoria’s Bus Plan has already redesigned or strengthened more than 144 local bus networks – delivering more than 16,000 extra services every week.
This includes a new and improved school bus network introduced to support the opening of Greater Shepparton Secondary College (GSSC). Consisting of 26 routes, the new network made services more efficient while maintaining existing connections to primary schools and other independent schools across Shepparton.
The Victorian Budget 2026/27 delivered $77.5 million for improvements to train services including nine return services every weekday on the Shepparton Line – almost doubling the number of current services.
Shepparton Line passengers now have access to almost 50 more weekly services, with 40 new services on weekdays running approximately every two hours on weekdays and arriving in Shepparton later in the evening.
The Labor Government is also delivering cost of living relief with half price fares to the end of the year, saving regular commuters $850, and Youth myki providing free travel for passengers under 18 across the state.
